Listening to analog music from a record is now one of my favorite hobbies, along with watching films in the living room cinema.
For me, listening to records is the counterpoint to hectic everyday life. It's a celebration - washing the record, putting it on, sitting down and immersing yourself in the music - for me, there's hardly anything better. The focus should be on the music, whether from a record or in another format.
Of course, I do also listen to music in digital form, because over the years there was a time when CDs were the leading format and, looking back, I unfortunately no longer bought records. I listen to digital music either from my NAS, where the ripped CDs are, or via Qobuz.
On Qobuz, I have created a playlist with DEMO pieces, which I use in my various tests. With a valid Qobuz subscription, you can access the list here. Audiophile Demolist.
I've been listening to records more often again since 2016. I've kept a large part of my collection since I was a teenager. Over the years, I've added a number of records, and I see cataloging all of my recordings as an integral part of my hobby. I use the Discogs platform for this. Each record was examined and rated when it was recorded, it was given a new lined inner sleeve and a protective cover, and is then neatly listed on Discogs before it finds its rightful place on the shelf.had a large part of my Vinyl collection since I was a teenager. Over the years, a number of records have been added, and I see it as an integral part of my hobby to catalog all the recordings.
Unfortunately, most of my record collection was destroyed in a fire in June 2025. I essentially had to rebuild my collection. However, I've decided not to let the collection get that big again.
For this I use the Discogs platform. Each record was examined and evaluated as it was collected, given a new lined inner sleeve and a protective sleeve, and then neatly listed on Discogs before finding its rightful place on the shelf.
I have summarized more about the topic of records in the blog post “Listening to my records-story”.
A good system is of course a prerequisite for being able to really enjoy the music, at least for me.
I was able to fulfill a long-held dream, and so the current Setup was created over the years. It forms the foundation for music and film alike.
As a result of the fire, I also had to replace or repair several parts of the system.
You can also find technical details about my current system in the blog.
I also look forward to visitors to experience music/movies or simply talk about it. Use the contact form or find me on FB by pressing the FB Logo below. Also below a Link to my Record Collection (on Discogs).
